The Silver Darling restaurant is situated in the old customs house at the mouth of Aberdeen Harbour. The Harbour is said to be the UK’s oldest business, first established as a business in 1136 by King David 1st of Scotland, and has a history spanning almost 900 years.
On the other side of the restaurant is the historic fishing village of Footdee (or Fittie to Aberdionians). The area has had a settlement as far back as Medieval times, but the current village was built in the mid 19th century and designed by John Smith, the architect responsible for Balmoral Castle.
